Shopify · Free internal link audit

Internal link audit for Shopify stores.

On Shopify, products often live only behind collection pagination — and your blog rarely links to what it's selling. RankForge crawls your store and shows you the orphaned products and the exact internal links that move revenue pages up the SERP. No app required.

The internal-linking problems Shopify sites run into

Orphaned product pages

Products reachable only through deep collection pagination receive almost no internal authority and struggle to rank.

Thin collection linking

Collections rarely link to related collections or to supporting content, leaving authority pooled on a few pages.

A blog disconnected from products

Blog posts that could pass authority to commercial pages rarely link to them with descriptive anchors.

Why internal linking is hard on Shopify

Shopify's structure is built around collections and pagination, not editorial linking. Products are reachable mainly by browsing collection pages, and once a catalog grows past a page or two, the deepest products sit several clicks from the homepage with almost no internal links pointing at them. The theme controls most navigation, so contextual links — the ones that actually move rankings — rarely get added.

For an ecommerce site, that's expensive: the pages that sit deepest and most under-linked are often the long-tail products and collections with the clearest buying intent. Internal linking is how you route authority to the pages that make money.

How Shopify orphans your product pages

When a product is only reachable through deep collection pagination (page 4, 5, 6…), search engines crawl it shallowly and pass it little authority. Discontinued or seasonal products that drop out of collections can be orphaned entirely. The bigger the catalog, the more products end up effectively invisible to search.

A crawl reveals which products and collections are starved — and which already-strong pages could link to them to fix it.

Connecting your blog to your catalog

Most Shopify blogs are SEO islands: they earn traffic but rarely link to the products and collections they discuss. A buying guide that ranks well but never links to the products it recommends is leaving both rankings and revenue on the table. Adding descriptive, in-body links from content to commercial pages is one of the highest-impact moves on a Shopify store.

What to fix first on a Shopify store

Prioritise the revenue pages: reconnect orphaned products, link related collections to each other, and point your best-performing blog posts at the products and collections they mention. RankForge ranks these opportunities by impact and gives you the exact source, target, and anchor text — so a writer or store manager can act on them without guessing.
