Google Search Console · Free internal link audit

The structural audit that explains your Search Console data.

Search Console tells you a page slipped from position 8 to 18, or stopped getting impressions. It rarely tells you why. RankForge crawls your internal link structure and connects those symptoms to causes — the orphaned page nothing links to, the authority pooled on your homepage, the cluster that never formed. It's the layer between Search Console and your fixes.

What Search Console shows you — and what it leaves out

Impressions dropped — but not why

Search Console reports a page losing impressions or position, but not the structural reason: it may be orphaned, buried deep, or starved of internal links.

Page 2 rankings with no path forward

Plenty of pages rank #11–20 in Search Console. The data shows the opportunity; it doesn't tell you which internal links would push them onto page 1.

No view of internal authority flow

Search Console has no concept of how link equity moves through your site. Two pages with identical content can rank worlds apart purely on internal linking — and that's invisible in GSC.

Why Search Console alone can't fix rankings

Google Search Console is the best source of truth for what's happening in search: real impressions, clicks, positions, and queries straight from Google. But it's a diagnostic readout, not a treatment plan. It tells you a page is underperforming; it stays silent on the structural reason and the specific change that would fix it. That gap is where most SEO time is lost — staring at a declining line with no clear lever to pull.

Most of the time the lever is internal: the page that lost impressions is orphaned or under-linked, the authority that should reach it is pooled on a handful of top-level pages, or the topic cluster it belongs to never formed. None of that is visible in Search Console because GSC doesn't model your link graph. RankForge does — and it reads your Search Console data when you connect it, so the fixes are prioritised by the pages that actually have traffic at stake.

Turning page-2 rankings into page-1 rankings

The highest-ROI opportunities in any Search Console account are the queries ranking #11–20: pages Google already considers relevant, sitting just below the fold of page 1. A small push in internal authority is often all it takes to move them. But Search Console only shows you the position — it can't tell you that a given page has just two internal links while its competitors on page 1 have dozens.

When you connect Search Console, RankForge cross-references those page-2 opportunities against your link graph and surfaces the ones that are both high-impression and under-linked — then gives you the exact internal links to add. You stop guessing which rankings are winnable and start working the ones with the clearest path.

How the two fit together

Think of Search Console as the symptom layer and RankForge as the structural layer. GSC tells you what's happening in Google's results; RankForge tells you what about your site's architecture is causing it and exactly what to change. Run the audit, connect your Search Console property, and every structural fix is ranked by the real traffic at stake — not just a structural score in isolation.
